|Great Hampden (private wood)
Use tree bark to make a simple container and knife sheath, like our ancestors used to
Time & Location
20 Apr 2020, 10:00 – 14:00
Great Hampden (private wood), Speen, Princes Risborough HP27 0RT, UK
About the event
We'll use the bark of a tree to craft a simple container that would have been used in history as a berry basket, arrow quiver, or general storage basket. These are techniques our ancestors would have used before modern materials.
We'll srip bark from sustainably sourced local logs and then use it to create a carrying basket. Bark is a joy to work with and quite satisfying, having a leathery texture. You'll get to take your primitive creations with you, which might need some finishing off in your own time.
Parking is available on site. Tea & coffee will be available all day. Please bring a packed lunch.
Suitable for beginners. All equipment and materials needed will be provided aong with tuition.
Site is a private woodland in South Buckinghamshre near HP16 9RQ
